I have bought tree from Moon Nursery at Las Vegas. I bought it as supposedly apricot tree. It is around 12 feet tall and has been for 3 years in my garden. Each year it has white flower blossom and then it bears around 15 - 20 fruits. Unfortunately these fruits never ripen and have either some disease or pest spoiling them. This pest eats the fruit in half forming ring. last 2 years I went to moon nursery and bought different pest killer and sprayed on this tree but now I lost trust in them. I have attached picture of immature fruits. All my trees fruits go to same fate. Can anyone help and also identify if its apricot tree or plum tree and what disease this is and is there any solution?
Although it might be one of the hybrids between plum and apricot trees (or other stone fruits) without knowing this background information it is then a plum tree. Something about the climate or other condition there is causing your ripening fruit to split open. While I haven't seen much of this myself it is a common problem with some cultivars of sweet cherry trees (another stone fruit).
Thanks, My wife also thinks its plum. Weather sucks but it had been beautiful in Vegas last one month + I pour lot of miracle grow and stuff in there. I have put some grapefruit, Orange tree too. They had two fruits in last 3 years but I am ok. I feel something is eating fruit. Not sure what it is because some horizontal halfway lines will be there too.
Nevada Cooperative Extension may be able to help. Extension offices usually have plenty of information about growing fruit.
