Is this cranberry or some other berry?

is this a cranberry? every picture i seen of a cranberry and it does not look like it. i am confused as to what it is. please help thanks

 

Not sure what it is, but definitely not a cranberry. Possibly a species of persimmon Diospyros, but I'm far from certain with that.

Cranberry is a little creeping thing with tiny parts that grows in bogs in cool northern climates.

 

yea i figured it could not be cranberry. i ate one thinking it was cranberry. hope its not poisonous. strange no one could identify this

 

Is it a tree or a shrub? How big it is? How big are the leaves and the fruit? Do they have pits inside?

uh i guess its a shrub. the fruit is the size of a grape. it has seeds inside and the fruit is red. I can take a picture of it opened if you like. when ripe it is green.

the leaves are about 3 inches long

ok here it is close up. the fruit is orangy red. taste sweet. i licked my fingers and did not eat the whole thing just in case its poisonous. would think it would be good for juice
