Unfortunatly I only have a pic of the greenery but I can tell you that this plant is everywhere and grows out of no where. I have been pulling it out of the ground around the yard for a year now. It's very Thorny and it gives a dark purple raspberry/Blackberry type fruit, I have never had the guts to taste it but the chickens and the wild birds love them. I'm not familiar with berries so any feed back would help. Picture.jpg (1.11 MB

The foliage and stems in your picture are from a rose - Rosa - species. It would help to have pictures of the actual berries you are referring to. But most roses produce hips after they have flowered. Species roses, for example, Roas multiflora, will produce seedilings easily. Do you have any pictures of the flowers? What are they like? Colour? Solitary blooms, or in clusters?

I thought it was a wild rose also until the berries came. The flowers are white and are single flowers that look similar to a primrose. I wish I would have taken pics, The birds eat them up as soon as they turn purple. I know when they ripen because the birds leave lovely purple stains all over the cars. I will go in search of some berries to photograph tomorrow if the mosquitos allow. They are mostly in the wooded area of the yard so I'll have to get the machete(?) out. Thanks for your help
I just looked up the photo for Rosa multiflora and thats what the flower looks like hmmmm.
