My silly cat recently chewed up what I think was an air fern. It was much smaller than what is in the picture below. It fit in a sea shell that was glued to a magnet. Corny, I know. Nonetheless, it was special to my mother and I'd love to replace it for her. Any ideas what type of plant this is and where I could order/find a new one? Thank you!

A species of Tillandsia (a bromeliad, not a fern).

It is a Bromiliad. Air ferns are more fuzzy/ferny looking and are dead critter colonies painted green. Per google at the above mentioned site.
Google> Tillandsia> choose 'Tillandsia International Bromiliad Air Plants.
From there you can view many varieties of plants and choose a suitable replacement for Mom.
They claim to ship. Have no Idea of their track record.
Check the other sites and you will soon learn more than you probably ever wanted about them.
    Have fun...barbara L

Am assuming that your cat had no lasting ill effects from the Tillandsia mastication. ???

Mine never does. She actually climbs the Acacia tree to get at them, too - since she ate her first one, she hasn't wanted to wait for them to fall off in the wind. Oddly enough, she won't touch Spanish Moss (Tillandsia usneoides) though.
