Hi, I have this plant growing in my garden and I can't tell if it is a weed or a berry. If it is a weed I would like to pull it out, but if it is a berry I would like to let it grow so I can enjoy it's majesty. Any help would be appreciated.

It's a species of Solanum - probably best considered as both a weed and a berry. Birds will eat the berries, but don't eat them yourself, many Solanum species (tho' not all) have fruit that are poisonous for people. If you want to encourage birds, keep it.

I have that one; it's definitely a nightshade of some sort, and (although I can't remember the exact species at the moment) the variety is toxic to humans. DO NOT EAT IT. Sparrows, on the other hand, love it to bits.

I should know, as I'm also growing most of the edible species of Solanum as well, and it took me quite a bit of book and net-searching to figure out which was which...

Best known ones with edible fruit are Solanum lycopersicum and Solanum melongena. Yours definitely isn't either of them!

You can also rule out S. betacea - you're in the wrong zone.
