This flower was found on August 3rd, 2004 in the Dragoon Mountains of Southern Arizona. It was growing at about 4500 feet, on the low vine you see in the background. Please view the flower at http://personal.sierra-hikes.com/unknownflower.jpg. Thanks in advance for any information you might be able to provide. Steve@sierra-hikes.com
Datura It might be a species of Datura - sorry, don't which. They come in pure white and shades of blue/purple and are extremely poisonous.
Possibly Datura... We thought it might be a sacred datura, too, but we're fairly familiar with those here in Arizona. The foliage is completely different from datura meteloides. This foliage almost looks like a lily of some sort, but it was growing on a vine along the ground rather than upright. The flowers themselves are about 2/3 the size of a normal datura blossom - maybe four inches long - but that dark purple center threw us off. Thanks, though, for the info. Anyone else have any ideas? http://personal.sierra-hikes.com/unknownflower.jpg Steve@sierra-hikes.com
