In The Garden: Is this a type of Gentian

    Greetings. I took the attached photo in friend's garden, and he said it was GENTIAN. However after checking photos for Gentian on the internet I am not at all sure. He said it has a tendency to spread all over the bed, but is easily controlled, as it seems to spread by seeds, rather than by branching out roots.The plants appear to be about 12 - 15" high. I live in SW Ontario. I would appreciate a positive identification. Thanks.
