Is this a tree sapling or a shrub? What type? It has glossy, round oval, green leaves with a barky stem. No fruit or flowers as far as I can tell. It's located in a partially shaded area behind a building. The soil it's grown in looks partially rocky. It's rained quite a lot lately, but it's in Central Texas near Austin, so it's starting to get pretty hot hear.

    All help appreciated!

Looks like it going to be a shrub (based on how many branches it has at this height).

As for what it is... that's tough. Have you noticed anything larger nearby with similar leaves? (seed may have blown in to this space, or been dropped by bird)
