Here's a 3 ft tall shrub as it appeared in late May.

It started at my grandparents' house in Pennsylvania, was brought to my parents' house on Long Island in the 1950's, and finally was moved to my house also on Long Island in the 1990's.

It likes the shaded area on the east side of my house, and has had more flowers each year since its last move.

The blossoms are all along last year's new growth and have no particular frangrance.

Dad called it mock orange, but I'm not sure.

    Any ideas?

No, it's a Deutzia. Note the flowers have five petals, whereas mock-orange flowers have four.

Thank you. You were very prompt and helpful.

I wonder what species of Deutzia. Gracilis?
And what is the best way to prune it?
