Is this a maple tree?

    We got this tree eight years ago from arbor day, and forgot what kind of tree it is, we thought that maybe it was a flowering tree, but where are the flowers, it cant be a dogwood can it? it look to me like a maple, please let me know.

    Hawthorn Crataegus. It will flower, but only when it is a little older (they typically start flowering around 10 years old).

    It is not Dogwood or a Maple. In pic1. the leaves on the tree seem to be rather large, while the ones in pic2 are uniformly small. How big are the big leaves?

    pic 1 was a far away picture of the tree, i think that because the leaves are so close together they look bigger, but they are all the same size as pic 2
