I just moved in and am trying to identify the plants/bushes in my garden. I have never grown fruits and veggies and I'm almost completely lost. The berries look like blueberries, but. . .

No, that is a Mahonia, an ornamental shrub. The berries are not edible.

After a quick search, I see that the berries are edible, but sour-not tasty. I have always considered them inedible. Never heard of anyone eating them. I would leave them for the birds.

Yep, edible but not very nice on their own. They are very rich in vitamic C though, so putting up with the sourness may be worthwhile. You can also make jam from them.
