iris just bloomed - one blossom-blossom last about one day, the plant has been kept indoors over the winter, plant was a pass-along- I would like to know name, and if it's hardy for zone 7 - I have seen this plant outdoors in S-California.

Great ID. The Neomaricas do nicely in central-southern Florida. Maybe a bit too nicely. I may need to break up a 2-year-old clump already.

Chris, Dave: thanks for the links, the other species are beautiful too.
If I can trade, how would I package plant for mailing? Any idea?

Neomarica are readily available in Florida. I suppose you'd take a plant, wash the dirt off the roots, cut leaves, package in loose peat or other packing material, and send in a box. Paying attention to restrictions on shipping plants.
