I had to take down a 60 yr old rd'wd whose massive root system was cracking slabs, sewer lines, & undermining large piers supporting my cottage. If I sever the roots emerging from the remaining stump, will that stop their growth? If not, what will? Thank you; Carl
Usually tree removal stops most root growth. But with the way redwoods are known to sprout from roots and stumps again, I can see why you are interested. If you severed the roots and if no sprouts emerge on the house side, that should do the trick. Is there a stump left?
