I know this isn't an insect identification forum but I've been baffled by this bug. I caught one in my bathroom in Rome WI and asked people in the bar I worked at if they knew what it was and nobody had ever seen one. I caught one on the wall in my bathroom in Iola, WI and I still do not know what the heck it is. If anybody does know please tell me because I do not know if it bites or if it is good or bad for myself or my pets. Thank you

It's a Book Scorpion, a small arachnid, resembling a scorpion but with no tail, the size of the one in your pic is about as big as they get. It doesn't bite.

Another note to add, they seem to like moist places, I find them in my bathroom as well. It does take a bit to kill them because they have flat bodies.

I wasn't sure if it would bite me or if maybe it was an alien creature from another planet since it looked so strange. I just catch them and let them outside. I see no reason to kill them. Thank you so much!

they are similar to wood lice in that they feed on biodegrading matter. A lot of people find them in old books, or decaying dead trees.
