Hello! I'm hoping someone can lend a hand identifying and recommending treatment (as natural as possible). We live in Niagara, Ontario and have been away for a week. It has been dry, hot, humid with no rain. We've come home to a severely infected diciduous tree - photos attached. It is adjacent (touching) a weeping cedar which is also browning and dropping. I don't see these mites??? on the cedar. We're concerned we need to take the entire deciduous tree down - as the infestation is considerable. Hoping for anoher option. Any advice would be most welcome! Thanks in advance. Natasha
1. Euonymus Scale I believe. http://woodypests.cas.psu.edu/factsheets/insectfactsheets/html/Euonymus_Scale.html
Second tree is a cypress of some sort (not a cedar), probably Nootka Cypress but possibly Bhutan Cypress; it looks OK to me, just some old foliage dying off which is normal.
