Hello, I have lost a number of nice indoor plants downstairs in my hallway, which has limited sunlight. There is some natural light that comes through the front glass in the foyer there for a few hours but then the sun turns and it is really quite shaded there. Can someone recommend a, preferably cascading but not necessarily at this point, houseplant that tolerates shade? Any ideas too about the potting soil and fertilisation and watering of the one you recommend. Thank you so much for your help in advance.
    Steph.

Any one of the Maranta's should work in your situation. They like medium light with no direct sun. I have 2 in my entryway. They get a couple of hours a day of fairly bright light, the rest of the time it's just whatever light comes in the door glass. Standard potting mix, plentiful water (slightly less in winter), standard liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks during active growing period.

Another one is Ficus Pumila, it's a trailing Ficus plant but they grow pretty slowly. I have several of them in anywhere from direct sun to an area that receives no sun at all just average light all day long. Standard potting mix, plentiful water (never allow the soil to become dry at the roots or the leaves will shrivel and die), standard liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks during active growing period.
