My orange tree, which for 10-plus years had lush green leaves and regularly bloomed and fruited, now looks like a skeleton. Its leaves are yellow and falling off. It gets plenty of light and regular watering. I see no plant pests. Would drastic cutting back, trimming roots and repotting help?

It sounds like the tree has been treated in a consistent manner and performing satisfactorily up to the point when the problem started. I assume your actions have no changed.

Has there been any change in the tree's environment? Is the tree fertilized regularly? If so, what is the (NPK) formulation of the fertilizer? Does it contain micronutrients?

I suggest easing the tree out of its container to have a look its root system. Is it root-bound? Do the roots look healthy? The answers will determine the course of action.

Many thanks. I will do as you suggest and let you know the outcome. I am new to this wonderful site and hence did not see your first reply.
