I have a rather pathetic looking grapefruit tree that we have had for about 4 years. I produces blossoms each February and then usually sets fruit. I just picked 3 small (about the size of a modest tangerine) grapefruit which are about 90% rind. They are beautiful and yellow but there is barely any fruit. I fertilize little and water sparingly as advised in books and on line. Is there a way to get more fruit and less peel? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

Actually citrus trees are heavy feeders and should be fed regularly. A fertilizer containing micronutrients having an NPK ratio of 5-1-3 is recommended. As for the thick rind, the thread thick skinned grapefruit | UBC Botanical Garden Forums may provide some information.
