We bought land in Osoyoos where we will be moving to in the next 5 years. We want to plant a lot of trees and are wondering if there are trees that will grow well without constant attention and watering since we won't be spending much time on the property until we move there permanently.

    Any ideas?

Since this region has both limiting summer dry periods and deer those are two important considerations when planting rural properties. Fall planting and mulching after planting can be used to enable establishment of drought-adapted selections, of which there are actually quite a few. But deer can and often do prevent successful development of a broad range of plants; even kinds native to the locale may be cropped relentlessly when planted on a site where these do not occur naturally. Effective fencing is the only persisting remedy for this.
