    Hello,

I found an episode of In The Garden online called Magnificent Maples. Its rare to find a whole garden program dedicated to maples. I found this program really well done. The focus is Japanese Maples with a visit to a well known grower and there is a second segment on Chinese Maples. The last segment is on tips for planting trees.

I also think it is very refreshing to see all the beautiful colors of maples, given the onset of Winter and a growing desire for Spring. I hope you enjoy this wonderful program and a great escape from Winter!

I know you would do the same and share with the forum Emery, it was my pleasure and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I really want to watch this but for some reason that site shuts down my internet. It gives me a message that the website causes an error. Is anyone else having this problem?

I think we broke it...PBS did not see the maple fanatics of the UBC Maple forum coming! We must of overwhelmed their server. I will try and report the error and let everyone know if I come up with a solution.

I downloaded the latest version of Java and it works for me now. After download, I installed the newest version and deleted the existing version of Java. After install, I opened a new window and was able to watch the video via the original link above.

After you update Java run a full virus scan - last time I updated Java I picked up files that a web site I looked at later says were written to get into computers through Java updates. And the update I installed was certified by Java as authentic, when I checked afterward (my computer help said to always run updates off of the Java web site, instead of opening and running the update prompts that appear on your desktop as these can be fake).

Here is a show that focuses on Japanese maples and Conifers. The first segment they visit a nursery that specializes in conifers and Japanese maples. Then the next segment is on grafting. The last segment is how to use Japanese maples in the landscape to best compliment their growth habit. Hope you enjoy!

Lastly, here is an episode that covers layering / how to / as a propagation method:
