Hi Folks I have an impatience plant the develops flower buds and then drops them before the open up. I've read they like shade only and also that they need a couple of hours sun every day. I wonder which is true? Some days I move them from my shaded spot in my living room closer to my window to get some sun. All of my windows face south only. The plant will get about an hour of sun where it is, which is about fifteen feet from the south window. Do houseplants dislike being moved around in one's residence? Would greatly appreciate help. Thanks, you can email direct if you like since I am uncertain if I will get an email notice otherwise. Ron ronrobjoe@shaw.ca
Impatiens don't bloom much indoors in the winter. But you can keep them green all winter indoors, and then root a lot of cuttings in spring.
Thank you GreenElephant -- that answers my question and the tip about taking cuttings in the spring is what I will do since the plant seems to be thriving with many new off-shoots.The main shoot is one foot and eight inches high with two other slips that have grown to about a foot high each since I got a small cutting about three months ago. Have a great day, Ron
