I have had this plant for 4 years now, and I have never known what it is, or why half it's leaves are healthy and green and the other half are pale and drop off! It now has a bald patch...can anyone help me with what it actually is and where I'm going wrong? Any clues would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :-)

it's a pepperomia - i was never able to find out which variety though. you've got the variegated version of what i've had.

i've tried it twice - and i never could get it's water needs correct. you look like you've basically figured it out! it's lovely.

Your plant reminds me of Peperomia Orba. Give it good light and some sun, water well when the soil has dried. Feed in spring and summer 1/3 the recommended amount. It's always a good idea to check for bugs.

Thanks Joclyn and Bluewing - I always thought I was watering it enough but I sat it in the sink for a couple of hours and then drained it, next day the pale leaves started to darken back up to green! I guess my kitchen window gets hotter and drier than I realised! You made my day. :-) xx
