1.5 yrs ago, I notice only half of my maple produced leafs, last year nothing which leads me to believe it's dead. I did notice thousands of transparent little bugs on it. I now have two maples on my front lawn, with close exam there is a green moss up the entire tree. What is this and can I prevent another or more trees from dying. They are so big and beautiful, it makes me sick to think I might lose my beloved maples. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

What kind? If Japanese maples maybe not fully hardy in Vermont. These and other maples also prone to disease organisms which cause dieback, even death.
