    Hi all!

I bought this plant (pics below) from Ikea last year and I have no clue what it's called. It's seems to enjoy my company as it's growing like crazy which brings me to my question: how should I prune and propagate this plant?

    Great thanks!

hey there your plant is a Common name: "Heart-leaf Philodendron"
Latin name: Philodendran cordatum - syn scandens, oxycardium

"Heart-leaf" Philodendron is probably one of the easiest house plants to grow. Place them nearly any where (except direct sun) and they will thrive. Allow the soil to dry about one inch from the surface before watering. Feed monthly with a balanced plant food. If your plant becomes leggy... just cut it back to the desired size. The cuttings are easily rooted in a container of water or vermiculite. Philo.

they r a really kool plant and look so cool when they r full .. when you do the cutting make sure to take the las leaf off the bottom to expose the node that is were the roots will start to form ..good luck ..

I realize this thread is old but I was doing some research and discovered the indication that Philodendron scandens oxycardium is said to by a synonym for Philodendron cordatum. Scientifically there is no indication in any published document this is true and it appears to be only a horticultural myth. I've corresponded a great deal with Brazilian aroid botanist Marcus Nadruz who is the director of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden and the two species are not related and don't even look alike. Philodendron cordatum is a unique species found along the coast in the region of Rio. The common name for Philodendron cordatum is Angra dos Reis. You can see botanically verified photos of Philodendron cordatum at this link:
