I live in Las Vegas, NV and just today noticed some stuff on my Shamel Ash tree. Any ideas what it is and how to get rid of it? thank you, Jim
looks like mealy bugs. easy to treat with rubbing alcohol - either sprayed on them or use a q-tip to drip it on them. then wipe the branch down to remove the bugs. treat again every 7-10 days until there are no more left (eggs will keep hatching for a few weeks).
looks like i'm wrong. please see this post for some info: http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=37040 from the similarity, i'm thinking what you have are some type of scale bug.
