The flowers are beautiful bright yellow, and the leaves are narrow spiked. The flowers begin budding almost looking like a rose bud. The plant has grown over five feet tall, like a huge bush. It's blooming right now, in May, in Southern Maine, roughly 45-60 degrees weather. It has little plants of it shooting up all around it in the lawn. It has no scent. No one seems to be able to identify it. Photos of a cutting are attached. Any idea what it could be?

Well thank you so much! I looked it up to find photos of the entire shrub, and it is indeed Kerria Japonica 'pleniflora'. Now that I know what it is, I have a better idea where it will thrive best in my yard. I'm going to love this shrub! What a beauty.
