There is a plant in my garden (Lake Huron Shoreline, Tobermory, Ontario), that I would like to identify. It is right beside a "Dracunculus vulgaris - voodoo lily", and almost looks like it is part of the same plant. Late in the fall it produces very tall spires of purple 'orchid like' flowers. When I looked into the voodoo lily, I could not find any photos depicting these purple flowers, so now I am starting to think it is a separate plant. The plant is quite bushy and is at least 3-4 feet tall. Here are photos of the voodoo lily taken in the spring, and then the other flower that appears in the fall. voodoo lily in the spring Fall Flowers
Thanks I looked up the info on Monkshood (Aconitum). This is definitely the purple flowering plant. Which means that they are actually two separate plants. Not exactly sure where it came from however. I planted the voodoo lily ( Dracunculus vulgaris) in the fall, and then in the spring both plants showed up side-by-side in the garden. Appreciate your assistance. N.
