identify holly please

    This holly (?) is a large mound-shaped bush. It is in flower now (mid Nov) in MD. Fls very sweet smelling. Lvs about 1.5in long, ovate. Only few inner lvs are spiny.

    Ditto to Osmanthus heterophyllus. Note that the leaves are in opposite pairs, not alternate as in hollies; also hollies are spring-flowering, Osmanthus is autumn-flowering.

    THIS Osmanthus blooms in fall. Some others bloom in spring.
