    hi
I have not seen this tiny flower since I was a child, I recall my parents telling me it was a Lady Slipper, and that they were very rare and to never pick one. I have looked on the web and have not been able to find out more info on this beautiful little flower. I found this flower all alone just off a game trail on my property. I live in Smithers, North Western BC.
    Thank you

Calypso bulbosa, Calypso orchid. Blooming now through much of the Northwest.

thank you, now searching the web armed with the correct name, I see this flower is also referred to as a Fairy Slipper. This is the name I recall as a child.

This weekend we found a white Calypso orchid, on the east side of the Cascades. Very different!
