Does anyone know what this is that seemed to popup over night on my purple hearts plant in a semi-shaded area in Knoxville TN. It is purple/black/gray in color and is charcoal brisque or rock-shaped. It was covered in a yellow slime which washed away with the water hose. I guess mainly I would like to know if this is harmful or beneficial to my plants. It seems to have attached itself to the plant, too.

    Thanks. -Gina
