Identification of flowering tree

    I was in Spain 2 weeks ago and saw very beautiful flowering trees, as tall as magnolias. Very few leaves on the trees, mostly flowers for the moment (end April).
    I am hoping someone can help me identify these trees. Attached is a photo of a flower and one of the trees.

    Bauhinia possibly B. variegata.
