Identification: identification help

    I live in southwest connecticut. This fungus began appearing late october in yard. Need identification help. Attention appreciated.

    Is the dark vertical stem-looking shape visible underneath the red bit in fact a stem, or is this an optical delusion? Is your fungus gilled or pored...or are we perhaps seeing our old friend, the stinkhorn?

    I'm definately going with the 'stinkhorn friend' guess here. lol
    It looks like there a few more eggs that should be errupting soon too.....keep an eye out for more!
    Will be nice to know if it's Mutinus caninus or another species.
