I found this mushroom yesterday in a hardwood forest, shaded area, on a rotten tree trunk, I don't know what kind of tree, there was a group of those mushrooms, in different sizes, the biggest about 5 inch in diameter, the stem round at bottom, color is solid white. I would like to find out what I found.

At a glance it definately DOES look like the Peppery Milky? But it doesn't grow ON wood.....
But did you happen to notice if it had white 'milk' coming our of it when you broke it?

Most likely these don't 'bleed'....but another question.
Do you or could you get a photo of a 'young' one...they look like the cap might possibly have been attached before opening. Did you notice a particular odor at all? besides mushroomy of course...lol
Also...a spore print would be GREAT! :o)

You get the spore prints by taking a 'healthy' cap and setting it on half white/half black paper. You want both colors to determine in case it's black or white spore. Don't feel bad...if you only knew how many mushrooms I collected before I ever knew to get a print. lol
Atchison is the far NE corner of Kansas...about 5 or 6 hours from Arkansas I think?

I checked on the mushrooms- they were all dried up, we had warm temperatures and dry conditions lately - I'll keep an eye on the log and check back after a rain - may be I can post a spore print in the future - thanks for your help
