I'd appreciate some help identifying a clematis I inherited when we moved into our house. It looks similar to Nelly Moser in flower shape and size, but is pale purple rather than pink. Petals range from 6 to 8, and flower size is anywhere from about 4 inches in diameter to about 7 inches (a wide variation!). It blooms in May in Nebraska (zone 5), and then intermittently through the summer. After flowering, it has intriguing seedpods that look like balls of swirled vines, about 2 inches in diameter. I'm attaching pictures -- note the difference in petal counts. Also, this flower has always flowered purple (we've been here several years) and has never been pink like Nelly -- maybe a hybrid??
sounds like nelly to me. i have it and the flowers are much more purplish this year than in years previous. can you post a pic of it??
