Idenrify a plant from a UK garden please

Hi all,

This plant has grown in my garden and is much admired.

Unfortunately I do not know what it is. Any ideas?

It is very vigorous and self seeding. There is a VERY sharp thorn at the end of each flowerhead.

It's a species of Acanthus, maybe Acanthus spinosus.
