This was growing in the garden when we moved in last year. We promptly cut it back because it had grown its vines out several feet and taken over half of the back patio. Now the weather is turning warm and I see lots of new growth, including this deep purple bud. Any ideas on IDing this guy?

Ahh yes! I am familiar with vinca minor, which would have had more flowers in this very shady spot. (There were none last year!) The variegated leaves threw me too. Thanks for the ID!
