ID please Tree with seed pods

hello all

i came upon this tree amidst conifers and understory shrubs.
It was the only one of its kind.
I have not been able to find a similar tree with seed pods in my books or online images

I am not familiar with all the possibilities at your location, but to me it looks like a Robinia pseudoacacia

January - Locust Tree or False Acacia (Robinia pseudoacacia)

i went back to my National Audubon Society Field Guide to Trees and I located it.
i do not know why I missed the section on types of seed structures before. But there was the tree.
