    I imagine these are easy for anyone to identify, but I am unable to find the time to look through the 1000's of photos to find the names of each one. Found this UBC Botanical Garden website, and have fallen in love.
    I imagine many of you will identify these beauties for me, and for that I thank you! Also I somehow have a green thumb that family and friends are amazed by and I am wanting to start giving starts off a couple of my babies. Can any one help me with how to start a new plant from an existing plant?

    Looks like:
    1. Schefflera arboricola, Umbrella Tree;
    2a. Dracaena fragrans 'Janet Craig';
    2b. Dracaena marginata, Madagascar Dragon Tree;
    3. Epipremnum aureum, Pothos.

    The third one could be Epipremnum aureum but when I copied the photo in PhotoShop and blew it up it also strongly resembles one of the variations of Philodendron hederaceum. Can you describe the blade or post a brighter photo? Does the blade have a velvet surface, is it reddish on the underside, do you see what appears to be a sheath every time there is a new leaf unfolding that curls backwards? This info will help.

    Also take a look at these photos. Both of these species are highly variable and can take on may forms. More photos and info on both here:

    The blades do not have a velvet surface, nor are they reddish. I looked up each plant species you gave me and I believe you are right the first time.
    Once I started glancing at each article on each plant, I realize now that maybe I am not the green thumb I thought, as each of these are very hardy and tolerant of abuse. That being said my plants are hardly abused, as I care for them often once or twice a week, and I wipe the dust off as many leaves as I can every other month.
    They each have a sentimental value to them, so they are my children in a way!
    Thanks for your help, now I will be able to work on getting family and friends starters!!!!

    As long as you enjoy them that is all that really matters.
