This lovely little plant grows well in shady areas of my yard (in coastly Mass.) that are largely favored by weeds. I don't know if it is previous planted or a wild flower. It has a two petalled bright true-blue flower (see color in the close-up) with bright yellow stamin (the yellow does not show up well in these pics). The flowers are 1/2" to 3/4" across. The stems are jointed and break easily at the joint. It seems to be able to root from the joints. It seems to only have one flower per stem, at the top. I spreads easily, but not agressively. It is blooming right now. I think it flowers for most of the summer, as long as it gets some water.
I adore it, but what is it?

These pics were taken quickly on my phone in the rain. I can take better ones if needed.

    Yes, indeed! Thank you!
I have searched it online. It is interesting that some places deem it an invasive weed, while others seem to treat it as an admirable (if exotic) wild flower. For me it is not only beautiful, but a delightful substitute for the ugly weeds that like the same spots. (I'm crazy for truely blue flowers, by the way.)
Do you happen to know what eats its leaves? On one side of my yard something is eating the leaves of the Dayflowers, the Lillies of the Valleys, and a few lower Hosta leaves.
