ID Hosta Like Woody Plant

    Please help me id this plant. The leaves die when it gets cold and the stems turn woody. It comes back each year in the spring.
    The second picture is a closer look at the leaves and the third picture is what the stems look like.

    Even though there have not been any flowers for the last 3 years (when I moved into the house)?
    If it is a hydrangea, is there a way to encourage it to flower?

    It looks like the variegated type .. and some of them dont flower all the time .. i think they are more for show with the leaves... try googling variegated Hydrangea and get the info ..
