Buenos Dias, My mother gave me a slip of this plant some time ago. Until it became tightly crowded in its pot, nothing special happened. Then one morning the plant put out what 'might' be a reproductive spike. Can you help me identify this plant? Thanks so much, Tomato
could be a philodendron. it could also be an epipremnum. looks more like a phil tho, to me...i've been known to be wrong tho! you're probably correct about the new growth being a flower spike (spathe). if it does turn out to be that, please post a pic of it when it's in 'bloom'...
Buenos Tardes, Thank you very much! I googled epipremnum for images. I have several of this in the house. The leaves of my plant - philodendron - are shorter and thicker. I appreciate knowing what this plant is. I will be sure to take photos of the spathe (thanks for that terminology) and post right here when it blooms. I already see it turning a dark green right at the tip. Thanks again! Tomato
Buenos Tardes, Thank you very much! I like knowing what this plant is. I'll post photos of the spathe (I'm so thrilled to know what this is called now) and post them here. Take care, Tomato
peperomia...hmm, i wasn't quite comfortable with phil or epiprem - the leaves weren't quite right for either...never thought about peperomia. now that you mention it, chris, i'm sure i'm wrong and that you are correct. any idea as to which one in particular??
This looks precisely like my plant! I did some reading about the Aroid plants. I'm puzzled that my spadix (is that right) didn't come with a spathe. No hood of any kind! Tomato
I should have read your responses more carefully. My plant is a peperomia scandens? Wonderful. Thank you! Tomato Peperomia belong to the Piperaceae, not an Aroid. They do have a subtending bract though. HTH Chris
