The first I think is spruce but not sure - also is it diseased? If so what is wrong with it (why is it yellow) The second is a mushroom I found on side of a log The third is a tree in the forest but is there something wrong with it?
Yep, a spruce Picea; species identity depends on the location (where is it?). The yellow colour is due to growing in less-than-ideal conditions in a peat bog. The fungus looks like Fomitopsis. Nothing wrong with the tree (another spruce). The thick low base is due to its having broad branches close to ground level when it was young; these have later been shaded out and dropped off as the tree grew taller.
Thanks! White Spruce Picea glauca - a little odd, as the usual spruce in Ontario bogs is Black Spruce Picea mariana (which is better adapted to growing in bog conditions). That probably explains why it looks so sickly!
