This was found roadside in Central Alberta, as of yet I have not found any info from books or online, any help would be great. Thanks in advance
Fallugia paradoxa is native to the southwest USA. This is Geum triflorum, aka prairie smoke or old man's whiskers. A photo of Geum triflorum in flower.
If it is indeed Fallugia (and the leaves certainly resemble it), the puzzle then becomes what it is doing there. Could you give a better description of "roadside central Alberta", e.g., was this near a town or a country residence? It's only supposed to be hardy to -31.5C, and yet Red Deer had temps of -39C in Jan 2005 and (not as bad) -30.5C in Feb 2006.
