Identification: I would love to know what this plant is!

  1. Hello

I have a stem from a plant that I found in Russia. I am afraid I know absolutely nothing about plants but this one has enchanted me. The plant has dark green, slightly waxy leaves that are almost round, are about 2 cms in diameter, they have a white powdery substance on them and they are very fragrant. The edges of the leaves are smooth and the leaves are relatively thick and tough. There are no stems, the leaves come directly out of the main stem and come in pairs which spiral around it. The stem is very woody. I first smelled this plant about 10 years ago in the USA and have hunted to find the source of the smell for years until this new year when I found the plant in my hotel in Russia. Apologies for my poor description. Any assistance you could give me would be gratefully appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

I was thinking along those lines too Daniel. There are a few that fit the Eucalyptus discription given. Here's E. pulverulenta in my garden.
