My mom seems to think it's a lily, maybe in the Voodoo variety but, it has yet to bloom so..? It has a striped stem, it seems to be annual, and one of mine is about 4 ft tall right now (and growing fast.) The tallest one I have is surrounded by other plants so I photographed a smaller plant that popped up in a lonely spot in the garden but, is definitely the same plant.
It's actually a herbaceous perennial orginating from a tuber every spring. It's an Arum of some sort, maybe from the genera Amorphophallus?
