A friend left this one in a move and all it does is get brown leaves (from the bottom up). Perhaps if I knew what it was, I could save this. When it is full it is a stunning plant.
It looks like Alpinia zerumbet 'Variegata' A shell ginger. It's looking pretty dry but if your temps are very low right now it's probably not liking that too much either.
Ah! Of course! Thank you. I should have recognized it from the Zongzi we had in Beijing this summer - this is what they use to wrap them in. Thank you for such a fast response, maybe now I can save this plant. (And than you for the memory of Beijing).
