Hello, Has anyone else had this experience with the lillies? Last year I planted THREE (already bloomed) RED LILLIES and this year I got TWO RED LILLIES AND ONE BRIGHT YELLOW ONE! Do lillies change their color from year to year? I thought this was strange - if anyone knows I would realy appreciate some info on this. Thank You : ) Maria
Have not had with lilies, but I have had columbines that came in in colors they weren't supposed to be. I'm sure it is not uncommon...to my knowledge they aren't going to change color, so if you don't like yellow that might be a problem.
I have a row of lillies multiplying themselves. Now after five years I have a white and a pink in with the red and yellows. It must happen.
Cross-pollination. When you pollinate a red flower with another color, you can expect that anything coming from that will be somewhere in between or a complete offshoot because your main plants may have been hybrids of two colors.
WOW, Thank you all for sharing your experience and info on the lillies - I can't wait to see what will come up next year.
