I have a potted plant I got as a gift a few months ago (First Plant). Every few weeks I seem to mess up and it starts to look very ill and loses leaves and flowers. At the moment its in a terrible state after a surprising recovery when it appeared to be flourishing. I really don't know how to care for it or know what I'm doing wrong and unless I know what it is i can't see how to correct that. Any help is appreciated. I'm so embarrassed by these - I'm a plant murderer.

Thanks very much! I wasn't sure that was it at first as some of the images looked too different from my plant, but I just didn't realise the huge variety. Hopefully I can find some good tips to give it a chance at survival.
