OK now. I live on Vancouver Island and about 2 months ago bought this magnificent succulent, aeonium schwarzkopt that is 5 years old. I have never seen such a great plant, or small tree rather. It is about two and a half feet tall and my instruction was that it liked to be spritzed in the early morning and cooler evenings. I gingerly did this watching carefully that it was not going down hill. I have no info about this plant and how to take care of it what so ever,......until now I hope. I just read that it's growing season is in the winter and not to overwater it in it's dormant stage which, I did. Unfortunately I had to leave for a month and when I came back a large branch had drooped over and I am suspecting it was overwatered by my neighbour. I returned from another get away and another large branch had snapped off. I have tied this plant to give it support as it is a top heavy plant. I need help here folks. I just brought it in as it is chilling down at nights and am giving it as much light as I can. One thing I did notice the first time I left was the blooms instead of being compact, were now spread out and it appeared to have grown somewhat. I think this is a fabulous plant and need some instruction as I really do not want to loose it. I do have to leave it for up to a month at a time and need some expert advice as I have very little to go on. Thanks alot, I appreciate your advice.

Is the plant in a "cactus/succulent mix"? I usually put mine in 3/4 sand, 1/4 organic.
It sounds like it has been overwatered....if a branch has snapped off, maybe you can propogate it?
If it has stopped being compact and is elongated somewhat, perhaps it needs more direct light as you have suggested
    Hope I helped....good luck
