my question is :Kingston is in which agricultural zone?what kind of apricot tree is successful in this area?
Kingston is a reliable zone 5b and almost never has late frosts in spring (good for the early flowering apricots). Virtually any variety you buy locally in Eastern Ontario will be hardy in Kingston. Two varieties for cross-pollination will increase yields.
Thank you smivies for your useful information! but i still have one more question:i know that pruning apricot during spring time is the ideal season, but could i prune my apricot tree in middle of august as well?is it bad or ok?
McGill Factsheet August pruning is not a good idea....it encourages late summer growth that will not harden properly before winter.
Thank you again Smivies for your useful advice! Better to prune my apricot tree early spring when frost is no more effective!Am i right!
Khalil;Spring is the better time to prune your apricots. Here is a list of apricot varieties for you. Good luck http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/crops/facts/02-035.htm Cheers
