Kingston is a reliable zone 5b and almost never has late frosts in spring (good for the early flowering apricots).

Virtually any variety you buy locally in Eastern Ontario will be hardy in Kingston. Two varieties for cross-pollination will increase yields.

August pruning is not a good idea....it encourages late summer growth that will not harden properly before winter.
